International industry fair opens in Shanghai

Visitors watch a percussion show performed by robots at the China International Industry Fair (CIIF) in Shanghai, east China, Nov. 1, 2016. The China International Industry Fair kicked off on Tuesday.

This year’s China International Industrial Fair opened today in Shanghai, attracting more than 2,300 companies.

This year’s featured guest is Russia, which brought along more than a dozen companies from different industries, including a bank. It can provide preliminary due diligence investigation services for foreign companies that are interested in investing in Russia, and business was good as soon as the doors opened.

“Here is an outstanding and brilliant exhibition, a lot of companies from Russia, China and from all of the world. We have a great opportunity here today to present our service and to tell what we want to do here. As we see today, about 100 companies from 10 a.m. have registered and start to using it,” said Mikhaylenko Konstantin, Chairman of the Board, Seldon.

As expected, a big attraction for viewers was the robotics show, which took up two full exhibition halls at this year’s fair. Many are were introducing integrated unmanned technologies, like a company that combines laser technology with a variety of other types of equipment.

“It’s a drone, so we put our laser sensor on the drone, and this drone can do a lot of industrial inspections for us, for example, this product can inspect natural gas leakage. So if we put our sensor on it, it can go anywhere. That one, it’s a laser sensor, a laser scanner to scan the 3D environment around your car. As you can imagine, for your autonomous car, without a driver, it needs to know where it’s at and its environment," said David Li, CEO and Co-Founder of Hesai Photonics Technologies.

Li says that in this way, companies can reduce risks by replacing people with robots in dangerous working environments. And there were some big toys for people to try on, too. Panasonic brought their most up-to-date gear that helps with moving around those heavy essentials.

The robotics display is just one of the eight themes of this year’s exhibition, which also includes industrial automation, new energy autos, and information and communication technologies. The organizers expect to welcome 130,000 visitors during the five days of the show.
