Part Number: BDA10X5
Manufacturer: KOGANEI Corporation (Japan)
Product Type: Compact Multi-Mount Pneumatic Cylinder
Series: BDA
Bore: 10mm
Stroke: 5mm
The BDA10X5 is a KOGANEI BDA series compact multi-mount pneumatic cylinder with a 10mm bore and 5mm stroke. This double-acting air cylinder is engineered for small-movement actuation in industrial automation applications.
Ideal for pick-and-place operations, micro-clamping, part ejection, indexing, and short-travel linear motion in space-constrained environments where repeatable precision is essential. KOGANEI, a Japanese manufacturer with extensive experience in precision pneumatics, designed the BDA series to provide versatile installation flexibility without requiring different cylinder body types for each mounting orientation.
The 10mm bore with 5mm stroke configuration addresses light-duty, short-travel applications in precision assembly equipment, semiconductor handling systems, medical device manufacturing, electronics assembly lines, and food processing machinery.

The BDA cylinder's standout feature is installation versatility. The standard body supports direct side mounting, while three additional bracket types provide:
This design allows machine builders to use the same cylinder body across multiple positions, simplifying spare parts inventory and reducing procurement complexity.
The BDA10X5 is compatible with KOGANEI's sensor switches that detect piston position at end of stroke. Sensor signals feed directly to PLC digital input modules, providing machine controllers with confirmation that advance or retract strokes have completed.
Both solid-state (3-wire) and reed switch (2-wire) sensor types are available, with adjustable mounting positions for fine-tuning.
For optimal performance, use clean, dry compressed air with an upstream filter-regulator set to the desired operating pressure (0.05 to 0.7 MPa). The standard cylinder seals are designed for non-lubricated air, preferred in clean or food-contact applications.
If using lubricated air, maintain continuous lubrication to prevent seal degradation.
Check flow control valves if fitted, as a nearly-closed needle valve can cause this symptom. Verify tubing bore and length for pressure drop issues. Check for mechanical interference or internal seal wear allowing air bypass.
The standard BDA10X5 is not specifically rated for cleanroom use. For cleanroom applications, specify the CS-BDA (clean system) variant which uses special seals and construction methods to minimize particle generation.
Use through-holes in the cylinder body for mounting screws. Avoid over-tightening to prevent body distortion. Apply thread-locking compound and ensure the mounting surface is flat and rigid to prevent deflection during operation.
Slide the sensor along the mounting track until the indicator light shows the strongest and most consistent signal at end of stroke. KOGANEI's two-color indicator sensors facilitate this adjustment process.
Designed for service lives exceeding 10 million cycles in clean, properly filtered air. Replace seals based on condition rather than schedule. Indicators include visible air leakage, reduced stroke speed, or soft cushioning at end of stroke.
