PHCS3-2013 WEIYA Electronic Handwheel PHCS32013 For Weyerhaeuser Standard Series New
PHCS3-2013 | CNC Electronic Handwheel Manual Pulse Generator
Handheld / Coiled Cable / Locking Connector / Standard Series CNC Interface

Manual Pulse Generator – Axis Control at the Workpiece
A Manual Pulse Generator puts direct axis control in the operator's hand at the cutting zone. Instead of jogging from a fixed panel, the operator positions themselves at the workpiece and turns the handwheel while watching tool clearances in real time. The CNC interprets each pulse from the handwheel as one motion increment on the selected axis.
The PHCS3-2013 generates precise incremental signals. At fine multiplier settings, one click of the handwheel moves the axis fractions of a millimetre – giving the operator full control over tool approach speeds during setup and tool offset measurement.

Key Product Features
Type Manual Pulse Generator (MPG)
Form Handheld, ergonomic body
Controls Main encoder + auxiliary selector
Cable Coiled, spring strain relief
Connector Multi-pin circular locking
Interface Standard Series CNC

Dual-Control Design – Handwheel and Axis Selector
The PHCS3-2013 integrates two controls in one handheld body:
  • Main encoder wheel: The primary rotary encoder. Turning it generates the motion pulses the CNC translates into axis movement. Clockwise rotation typically commands positive direction; counterclockwise commands negative. The pulse count per revolution determines step resolution at each multiplier setting.
  • Auxiliary selector: A secondary switch or dial for axis and multiplier selection – choosing which axis moves (X, Y, Z, or 4th axis) and the increment per pulse (*1, *10, *100). Having both controls on one body means the operator does not return to the main panel to switch axis or step size during positioning – everything is at hand.

Coiled Cable and Locking Connector
The coiled cable extends and retracts without dragging a loose cable across the machine table or floor. It gives the operator reach to work at the front, side, and around the workpiece while remaining connected.
At the controller end, a multi-pin circular connector with a threaded locking collar secures the connection positively. The locking collar prevents accidental disconnection during use – important because an MPG that disconnects mid-operation can leave the CNC in an undefined handwheel mode. Disconnecting requires a deliberate quarter-turn unlock.

Application Scenarios
  • Workpiece datum setting: The operator jogs the spindle down to touch the workpiece surface to establish a Z-axis work offset. Using the PHCS3-2013 at *1 increment – typically 0.001mm per pulse – contact is confirmed through a feeler gauge or touch indicator at exactly the right moment.
  • Manual programme dry run: Before running a new programme at auto feedrate, the operator jogs through the programmed path manually with the PHCS3-2013, advancing the tool step by step and confirming clearances before the automatic cycle begins.
  • Probing and inspection: The operator jogs the machine axes to position a probe stylus at measurement points on the workpiece. The fine resolution of the MPG allows precise probe placement without risk of overtravel into the part.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What pulse resolution does the PHCS3-2013 provide?
Resolution is determined by the multiplier switch setting in combination with the CNC's MPG configuration. At *1, each encoder click typically commands 0.001mm (1 micron) of axis travel. At *10 the step is 0.01mm; at *100 it is 0.1mm. The CNC's MPG parameter settings define the exact distance per pulse – confirm these settings in the CNC's parameter documentation before commissioning.
Q2: Is the PHCS3-2013 compatible with CNC controllers other than the Standard Series?
The PHCS3-2013 is specified for the Standard Series CNC interface. Compatibility with other controllers depends on the MPG signal standard – typically differential encoder signals (A+/A−/B+/B−) at 5V. Confirm the target controller's MPG port signal specification and pin assignment against the PHCS3-2013 connector pinout before connecting to a different system.
Q3: Can the PHCS3-2013 operate all four axes?
The auxiliary selector on the PHCS3-2013 allows axis selection – typically X, Y, Z, and a 4th axis where enabled. The available axes depend on the CNC controller's configuration and whether a 4th axis is physically present and enabled in the system parameters. The handwheel itself generates axis-independent pulse signals; the CNC routes them to the currently selected axis.
Q4: Can the PHCS3-2013 be used simultaneously with the machine's panel jog keys?
No. In standard CNC operation, the MPG and panel jog keys are mutually exclusive. Activating handwheel mode on the CNC mode selector switches panel jog keys off – only the MPG is active. Switching back to Jog mode deactivates the MPG. The PHCS3-2013 remains connected, but does not generate motion commands outside of handwheel operating mode.
Q5: What connector pin count and type does the PHCS3-2013 use?
The PHCS3-2013 uses a multi-pin circular locking connector. The exact pin count follows the Standard Series CNC MPG interface standard. Read the connector body markings directly on the installed unit to confirm the pin count and connector diameter. For replacement cable or connector sourcing, match the pin count, connector diameter, and locking collar thread specification from the physical unit.
