Part Number: C98043-A7006-L1
Market Order Number: 6RX1700-0AK00
Manufacturer: Siemens AG (Germany)
The C98043-A7006-L1 is the CUD2 terminal expansion board for the SIMOREG DC-MASTER 6RA70. It is an optional add-on that plugs directly into the CUD1 and extends the 6RA70's I/O and interface capability when the CUD1's base terminal set is insufficient for the application.
CUD2 adds the following to the drive:
These additions allow the 6RA70 to handle more complex application wiring directly — extended machine interface signals, secondary encoder feedback, and a third serial communication port — without external signal conversion hardware.

Q1: The SIMOREG is not communicating on the X162 RS485 port. The CUD1 serial ports are working. Is the CUD2 faulty?
X162 is on the CUD2, not the CUD1. First confirm the CUD2 is correctly seated on the CUD1 expansion connector. If seating is correct and X162 still produces no communication, the CUD2's RS232/RS485 interface circuit has failed. Replace the CUD2.
Q2: Does the CUD2 require any parameter changes to activate its additional terminals after installation?
Yes. The CUD2's I/O terminals and serial interface must be assigned through the 6RA70's parameter system (BICO connections). The hardware is present after installation, but parameters must be configured to route signals to and from the new terminals. Refer to the SIMOREG 6RA70 parameter manual for the relevant CUD2 I/O parameters.
Q3: Can CUD2 be fitted to any SIMOREG 6RA70 regardless of production state?
CUD2 is compatible with all 6RA70 drives that use CUD1 (C98043-A7001-L1 or L2). It plugs into the CUD1 expansion connector present on both L1 and L2 boards. Confirm the CUD1 is installed and the expansion connector is unoccupied before fitting.
Q4: The CUD2 board weighs only 0.10 kg. Is ESD handling still required?
Yes. Light weight does not reduce ESD risk. The CUD2 contains microelectronic components — input buffers, gate arrays, and interface ICs — all of which are ESD-sensitive. Handle with a grounded wrist strap on a conductive surface, and store in metallised anti-static packaging.
Q5: If the CUD2 fails, will the main drive functions of the SIMOREG be lost?
No. CUD2 is optional — it only extends the CUD1's I/O. The drive's core closed-loop control (armature current and speed regulation) runs entirely on the CUD1. Only the signals and interfaces that were specifically assigned to CUD2 terminals will be lost. Functions relying on X162, X163, X164, X165, or X166 will not operate until CUD2 is repaired or replaced.
