Product Description

Siemens 6SX7010-0KB00 | SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES EB1 Terminal Expansion Module — Retrofit Kit with Connectors X480 and X481

Part Number (Kit): 6SX7010-0KB00

Board Order Number: 6SE7090-0XX84-0KB0

Manufacturer: Siemens AG (Germany)

Adding I/O to the Drive

The 6SX7010-0KB00 is the EB1 Terminal Expansion Module retrofit kit for SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES MC and VC drives. It adds a first block of analogue and digital I/O terminals — connectors X480 and X481 — to the drive's electronics box. This expansion is used when the drive's base CUD terminal set cannot accommodate all the I/O signals needed by the application.

Signals connected to the EB1's X480 and X481 connectors become part of the drive's BICO parameter structure — the same system used for base I/O. No external signal converters or additional hardware are needed. The EB1 slots into any available option slot (A through G) and is auto-detected at power-up.

The complementary EB2 module (6SX7010-0KC00) uses connectors X490 and X491 for a second I/O expansion. Both EB1 and EB2 can be fitted simultaneously in separate slots. The kit is supplied with both connectors and installation instructions, making it a complete field-installation package.

Kit vs Board-Only Reference

Order Ref Contents
6SX7010-0KB00 EB1 board + X480/X481 connectors + instructions (retrofit kit)
6SE7090-0XX84-0KB0 Board only — no connectors

For field replacement or new installation, the 6SX7010-0KB00 kit is the recommended order reference.

FAQ

Q1: Does the EB1 need to be enabled in parameters after installation?

The EB1 is auto-detected at power-up when correctly seated. No parameter is needed to "enable" the board itself. However, the BICO parameterisation must be configured to route signals between the EB1's X480/X481 terminals and the drive's internal functions — this is standard SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES parameterisation.

Q2: Can EB1 and EB2 be installed in the same drive at the same time?

Yes. EB1 (X480/X481) and EB2 (X490/X491) are independent modules assigned to different connectors and different option slots. Both can be fitted simultaneously, provided two available slots exist. Check available slots before ordering both modules.

Q3: The 6SX7010-0KB00 was discontinued in September 2020. Is it still available?

The industrial aftermarket is the primary supply channel post-discontinuation. Specialist SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES spare parts dealers hold exchange stock for both the EB1 kit and the board-only variant.

Q4: Can the EB1 analogue outputs be used to send actual-value signals — speed, current, torque — to an external controller?

Yes. Any drive measurement variable accessible through BICO can be assigned to an EB1 analogue output channel. The output range — typically ±10V — is configured through the relevant EB1 output parameter.

Q5: The EB1 is installed but the drive shows no signals from X480 or X481. What should be checked first?

Confirm the board is fully seated in its option slot — a partial connection prevents detection. Verify the slot assignment does not conflict with another module's Z-option setting. If seating and slot assignment are correct and the board is still unrecognised, check whether the drive's installed software version supports the EB1.
