16 Relay Outputs for Mixed AC and DC Field Loads

The 1762-OW16 expands a MicroLogix controller's output capability with 16 Form A relay contacts. Each relay is independently isolated — each contact switches the field load at its own voltage, which can be AC or DC within the rated range. One group of 8 can switch 24V DC contactors while the adjacent group switches 120V AC solenoids, all on the same module. This flexibility eliminates the need for separate transistor and relay output modules in panels where both AC and DC field loads coexist.


Two groups of 8 outputs share a common terminal within each group. The per-group limit of 8 Amps caps the total simultaneous current draw across any group of 8 outputs — four outputs at 2A each, or any combination totalling 8A. Calculate worst-case simultaneous load current per group during panel design and confirm it stays within this limit.
