The OMRON E3Z-T61 uses a separate emitter and receiver to detect objects interrupting an infrared beam. Its 15 m sensing distance allows installation across wide equipment openings. The built-in amplifier provides a switching signal directly to a compatible control input.
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Sensing Method | Through-beam |
| Sensing Distance | 15 m |
| Standard Sensing Object | Opaque object, ≥12 mm diameter |
| Light Source | Infrared LED, 870 nm |
| Supply Voltage | 12–24 VDC ±10% |
| Output | NPN open-collector |
| Maximum Load Current | 100 mA |
| Operating Mode | Light-ON / Dark-ON selectable |
| Response Time | ≤1 ms for operation or reset |
| Connection | Pre-wired cable |
| Protection Rating | IP67 |
| Operating Temperature | −25 to +55°C, no icing or condensation |
Typical applications include carton detection in packaging machinery, part counting on conveyors, and presence checks in automated assembly. Through-beam sensing suits opaque products that reliably block the optical path.
Mount the emitter and receiver facing each other. Align the beam, then set sensitivity using the one-turn adjuster. Check the receiver’s stability indicator and confirm switching with the actual target. Select Light-ON or Dark-ON to match the control sequence.
Q1: Does the E3Z-T61 need a reflector?
A: No. It uses a separate emitter and receiver.
Q2: What output type does it have?
A: NPN open-collector, rated for a maximum 100 mA load.
Q3: Can the switching mode be changed?
A: Yes. Light-ON and Dark-ON are selectable.
Q4: What is the maximum sensing distance?
A: 15 m between the aligned emitter and receiver.
